Questions & answers
The short version of how Symptomly works — what it does, what it costs, and what happens to your data.
The basics
Is Symptomly free?
Yes. The core symptom tracker isn’t paywalled and there’s no subscription to log your own health.
Do I need an account?
No — and you can’t even make one, because there isn’t one. No sign-up, no email, no password, and nothing registered with any third party. You open the app and start.
Is it available yet?
Symptomly is in development and coming to the App Store. This site is a preview of what it does.
What do I need to run it?
An iPhone on iOS 26.
What languages does it support?
The interface — and the Apple Health symptom names — are localized, not English-only.
Your privacy & data
Where is my data stored?
On your iPhone. There are no Symptomly servers, and nothing is uploaded — your symptom history simply never leaves your device.
Does Symptomly track me or show ads?
No. There are no third-party analytics SDKs, no usage tracking, and no ads.
Can I lock the app?
Yes. You can require Face ID or a passcode to open Symptomly, so your log stays yours even if someone else is holding your phone.
Does it sync across my devices or back up to the cloud?
Today your data lives only on the device — there’s no cloud sync, which is exactly what keeps it private. Your export (CSV / JSON / PDF) is your backup. Optional private sync through your own iCloud is something we may add later; it would never involve a Symptomly account or server.
Apple Health
Do I have to use Apple Health?
No. Apple Health is optional — the app works without it. If you do connect it, Symptomly logs to the symptoms already built into HealthKit, on Apple’s own severity scale.
What does Symptomly do with my Apple Health data?
Only what you allow, and only on your device. It reads and writes the symptom data you authorize; nothing is sent anywhere. You can review or revoke access anytime in Settings → Health.
Tracking
Can I track symptoms that aren’t in Apple’s list?
Yes. Add your own custom symptoms, edit them, and delete them whenever you like.
Can I track symptoms for my kids or several people?
Yes — you can add a profile for each person and switch between them. One important note: Apple Health is single-user, so only your primary profile syncs with it; additional profiles are stored only on your device.
Does it show trends or tell me what’s causing my symptoms?
It shows charts of how your symptoms change over time plus simple statistics (your most-common symptoms and how often they appear). It deliberately isn’t a “black box” that guesses your triggers — the correlating is for you and your doctor.
Can I set reminders?
Yes — gentle daily reminders to log how you feel, so your record stays complete.
Can I edit or delete something I logged?
Yes. Change any field of an entry, or swipe to delete — including entries Symptomly wrote to Apple Health.
At the doctor
Can I share my history with my doctor?
Yes. Export a clean report as CSV, JSON, or PDF — pick exactly which symptoms to include, and your notes come along.
Does Symptomly diagnose or give medical advice?
No. Symptomly is a tracking tool, not a medical device. It helps you keep an accurate record — always consult a qualified clinician about your health.
