Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 7, 2026
The short version: Symptomly stores your data on your iPhone. There are no Symptomly accounts and no Symptomly servers. We don’t collect, transmit, sell, or share your information — because technically, we never receive it.
1. Who this applies to
This policy covers Symptomly, an iOS app for tracking symptoms (“the app”). By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.
2. What data the app handles
The app works with the following information, all of which stays on your device:
- Symptoms you log — the symptom type, severity, date, and any notes you add.
- Apple Health (HealthKit) data — if you grant permission, the app reads and writes symptom data to Apple Health on your device. This is optional; the app works without it.
- App settings — your preferences (such as appearance and reminders), stored locally.
3. Where your data lives
All of the above is stored locally on your device using Apple’s on-device storage. Symptomly does not operate any servers and does not have a backend that your data is sent to. We cannot see your data, and we have no copy of it.
4. Apple Health (HealthKit)
If you choose to connect Apple Health, the app accesses only the health data you explicitly authorize, and only on your device. Data obtained from HealthKit is never sent off your device, and is never used for advertising or shared with third parties. You can review or revoke this access at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices on your iPhone. Symptomly’s use of HealthKit follows Apple’s requirements for handling health data.
5. What we do not do
- No account, sign-up, email, or password is required or collected.
- No analytics, usage tracking, or telemetry. The app contains no third-party tracking SDKs.
- No advertising and no ad identifiers.
- No selling or sharing of personal data — there is nothing collected to sell or share.
6. Data you choose to export or share
The app lets you export your log (for example, to share with your doctor). When you export or share a file, it leaves the app under your control, via the standard iOS share sheet, to the destination you select. What happens to it after that is governed by the app or service you send it to, not by Symptomly.
7. Deleting your data
Because your data is stored only on your device, you control it completely. You can delete individual entries in the app, or remove all app data by deleting the app from your iPhone. Health data written to Apple Health can be managed or deleted in the Apple Health app.
8. Children’s privacy
Symptomly is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them. Since no data is collected by us at all, no personal information about any user is gathered.
9. Changes to this policy
If the app’s data practices change in the future (for example, if optional cloud sync is ever added), we will update this policy and the “last updated” date above, and describe any new data handling clearly before it takes effect.
